Sounds impressive but what does it do?
An auger is a drilling device, or drill bit, that usually includes a rotating helical screw blade called a "flighting" to act as a screw conveyor to remove the drilled-out material. The rotation of the blade causes the material to move out of the hole being drilled. Now aren’t you glad you know that?
What about Compaction Wheels?
Compaction wheels work from the bottom up, eliminating bridging while breaking soil and filling in the voids. The mixing and kneading action of the wheel produces a more uniform soil consistency for better compaction. Heavy clay most often cannot be torn apart by vibration. The aggressive shearing action of a wheel easily breaks up hard soil and/or clay, so that they can be intermixed into the rest of the fill soil.
